The other building, called the 2-2 building, was a maintenance facility.[1] The two buildings between them housed six propane tanks[3] and covered 50,000 square feet (5,000 m2).[4]

The Falk Corporation explosion refers to a large and fatal propane gas explosion at a Falk Corporation building in the industrial Menomonee River Valley neighborhood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, on December 6, 2006.

Three people were killed and forty-seven others injured. Cars were reportedly flipped through the air and debris scattered over several blocks.[1] An investigation of the cause of the disaster uncovered leaks in a pipe running below the building, which supplied propane to the heating system for the complex. Several parties involved in the explosion have launched legal action in connection to the accident.

Nathan Freudenthal Leopold Jr. (November 19, 1904 – August 29, 1971)[1] and Richard Albert Loeb (/ˈloʊb/; June 11, 1905 – January 28, 1936), usually referred to collectively as Leopold and Loeb, were two wealthy students at the University of Chicago who in May 1924 kidnapped and murdered 14-year-old Robert Franks in Chicago.

    Chai Soua Vang (born September 24, 1968) is a Hmong American from Laos who was convicted of murder. Vang, a six-year veteran of the California National Guard, shot eight people while on a hunting trip in northern Wisconsin on November 21, 2004; six were killed and two were wounded.



    Although Vang acknowledged that he committed a shooting, there is significant dispute regarding the chain of events that caused the situation to become violent, with evidence indicating that Vang was being followed and called racial slurs by the shooting victims. Vang, who lived in Saint Paul, Minnesota at the time of the shootings, is imprisoned at the Anamosa State Penitentiary.[1]

    They have been identified as 38-year-old Sherida Davis and 47-year-old Leon Davis.

    Raleigh, N.C. — After more than three hours of closing arguments Wednesday, it took jurors just over one to find Jonathan Broyhill guilty of first-degree murder in the stabbing death two years ago of Jamie Kirk Hahn. 


    The quick verdict, which culminated the nearly month-long trial, sent moans of relief, tears and hugs through the Wake County courtroom crowded with family and friends of the 29-year-old political strategist, who was attacked in her north Raleigh home by the 33-year-old Broyhill on April 22, 2013. She died two days later. 

    Hahn and her husband, Nation Hahn – whose fingers were nearly sliced off as he tried to save his wife – considered Broyhill to be a close friend. He vacationed with them, often slept over at their home and even served as best man at their wedding four years earlier.

    In contrast with thermoplastic processes (the melt-freeze process that characterize the behavior of most modern polymers), vulcanization, in common with the curing of other thermosetting polymers, is generally irreversible. The cross-linking is usually achieved by the addition of sulfur, but other technologies are known, including peroxide-based systems.

    The main polymers subjected to vulcanization are polyisoprene (natural rubber) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), which are used for most street-vehicle tires. The "cure package" is adjusted specifically for the substrate and the application. The reactive sites—"cure sites"—are allylic hydrogen atoms. These C-H bonds are adjacent to carbon-carbon double bonds.

    During vulcanization, some of these C-H bonds are replaced by chains of sulfur atoms that link with a cure site of another polymer chain. These bridges contain between one and eight atoms. The number of sulfur atoms in the crosslink strongly influences the physical properties of the final rubber article.

    Short crosslinks give the rubber better heat resistance. Crosslinks with higher number of sulfur atoms give the rubber good dynamic properties but less heat resistance. Dynamic properties are important for flexing movements of the rubber article, e.g., the movement of a side-wall of a running tire.
    Without good flexing properties these movements rapidly form cracks, and ultimately make the rubber article fail.

    One week ago Tuesday, Simek was walking to the job she's had the past 11 years at Garden-Fresh Foods on South 12th and Pierce. Just before she could reach safety, gunshots rang out, and the Oconomowoc woman was killed. Police believe the murder happened during a robbery.

    A 28-year-old man was charged Friday with murdering his mother with an axe as she slept in her Oconomowoc home.

    A criminal complaint filed in Waukesha County today says Mark Totzke called 911 early Thursday, and told a dispatcher he had just killed his mother with an ax.

    Responding officers found 59-year-old Gloria Totzke dead in her bed.

    The complaint says the son told officer he killed his mother because she was in the CIA. He went on to explain that he too, was in the CIA and killing her was inevitable.
